Installation Note 49605: The warning "You have no SAS products that require the license to be updated in metadata" occurs when you are installing SAS® or DataFlux® software

DetailsAboutRate It

During installation of SAS or DataFlux software products, a warning might occur. As depicted in the Specify SAS Installation Data File dialog box, below, the message says "You have no SAS products that require the license to be updated in metadata."

The warning occurs for one of two reasons:

  • Because the file selected in the Specify SAS Installation Data File dialog box is not a SID file, or
  • It is a SID file but it is for the wrong SAS Tech Support site number

For example, the warning appears if you chose to use a DataFlux or JMP license file instead of a SID file. Specifying a SAS SID file for the wrong SAS Tech Support site number or wrong software version can also cause this particular warning.

Workaround

To correct this issue, do the following:

  1. In the Specify SAS Installation Data File dialog box, click the Browse button and select a SID file that has the same SAS Tech Support site number as the installation media that you are installing from.
  2. Select the file and click Next to continue with the installation.

Note: The SID file for SAS always contains the prefix "SAS9" as the first part of the filename. Here is an example: SAS93_order-number_sitenumber_host-platform.txt.

To determine the SAS site number for the installation media:

  1. Obtain the six-digit order number from the Select SAS Software Order page in the SAS Deployment Wizard, from the sas software depot\order_data folder, or from DVD-disk1 \order_data folder.
  2. Locate the SID file with the associated order number in the sas software depot\sid_files folder or from DVD-disk1 \sid_files folder. Note the eight-digit site number for the desired operating system. For example: 70000000.
  3. If the site number is not part of the SID filename, then open the SID file and search for the string SITE= to obtain the SAS 9.3 site number for the SAS Software Depot or SAS media.
  4. During the installation, select a SID file with the SAS Tech Support site number.

Alternate Method

  1. Open the soi.html file in sas software depot\install_doc\#####\ folder, or from DVD-disk1 \install_doc\#####\ folder, where ##### is the order number.
  2. Search the soi.html file for the string Tech Support Site Number. There could be multiple site numbers. Review products for each site number.
  3. During the installation, select a SID file with a SAS Tech Support site number that is listed in the soi.html file.

Note: If DataFlux is part of this order, the DataFlux license files are requested later in the installation process. The dialog box is titled Specify License Location for DataFlux Data Management Studio, as shown below. In this dialog box, click the Browse button and navigate to the location of your DataFlux Data Management license file.

The DataFlux Data Management license file contains the prefix DMP_ as the first part of the filename. For example: DMP230_order_number_sitenumber_Win_Wrstn.txt.

Another warning message is planned for a future software release.
